Building a Greener, Stronger Partnership with Greece

A message from Ambassador Berg

It is a great honour to begin my posting as Norway’s Ambassador to Greece. From the moment I arrived, I’ve felt the warmth of Greek hospitality and the energy of a country looking ahead. I’m excited to build on the strong ties between our nations and to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

One of my key goals is to deepen our cooperation in the green transition. Norway has a lot to offer—from sustainable energy solutions and electric ferries to sustainable maritime technologies—and I believe these innovations can support Greece’s own ambitions for a cleaner, more resilient future.

I’m also focused on making sure the EEA Grants we provide are used in ways that truly benefit Greek communities. Whether it’s supporting green jobs, boosting local innovation, or strengthening social inclusion, I want our contributions to have real, lasting impact.

Diplomacy is about more than policy—it’s about people. I’m committed to creating spaces where Norwegian and Greek voices can meet, exchange ideas, and spark new partnerships. Whether through high-level meetings or informal gatherings at the Residence, I want to make sure Norway is accessible, engaged, and present.

Norway and Greece have long been consistent partners and friends. Today, as Europe faces a more complex and evolving security environment, our shared values and cooperation matter more than ever. I believe we can meet these challenges together—with resilience, dialogue, and mutual respect.

As we prepare for key events like Posidonia 2026 and our annual planning cycle, I’ll be working closely with my team to ensure our efforts are focused, inclusive, and forward-looking.
