Ms Hilde Klemetsdal

Ambassador of Norway to Egypt and Libya 

Hilde Klemetsdal is Norway’s Ambassador to Egypt and Libya. She assumed her position in August 2021. Prior to this, she served as Director for the Section for Human Rights, Democracy and Gender Equality in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has previously held the position of Deputy Director for the Section for UN Policy. She worked as Senior Adviser in the Section for Peace and Reconciliation after serving as Counsellor at Norway’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York from 2012 to 2015, where she covered humanitarian affairs and Women, Peace and Security.

Klemetsdal headed the first Project for Women, Peace and Security in the Ministry, and has also worked with humanitarian issues, specifically protection of civilians and the Middle East. She was posted as political officer at the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, from 2004 to 2007. She has also worked at the Prime Minister’s Office in Norway. 

Hilde Klemetsdal holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Oslo. She is married and has three children.
