Job vacancy at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco: Housekeeper and Event Assistant

The Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco is currently looking to hire a skilled and motivated housekeeper and event assistant for the residence of the Consul General, in a full-time position.

A valid residence and work permit in the United States is a requirement. 
 
International exchanges, delegation visits and the promotion of Norwegian business and culture are core tasks of the Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco. As part of this work, many events, such as working breakfasts, lunches, dinners, receptions, and seminars are held in the residence of the Consul General. (number of events/guests) 

  
Tasks include: 

  • Assist with daily operations at the Consul General’s residence including housekeeping, coordination of maintenance personnel and other tasks related to running the residence 
  • Meet and greet guests and assist with requests as needed 
  • Assist with events at the Consul General’s residence including venue set-up and break down, including setting and decorating tables, serving food and beverages and cleaning up. Work in close collaboration with consulate staff and management on event planning. 
  • Responsibilities include sourcing event specific supplies as well as maintaining accurate records of inventory and expenses in line with venue policies 
  • Assisting with events at the Consulate as needed 
  • The position frequently requires working early mornings and/or late nights 
  • The employer may adjust the tasks as needed 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience as a housekeeper and server preferred 
  • Good operational level of English, both written and spoken

  • Ability to manage fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. This position requires demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy and discretion.

Norwegian employees at the Consulate General are liable to pay tax to Norway and are mandatory members of the Norwegian National Insurance scheme and Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.  

 

Workplace: approximately 80/20 split between the Consul General’s Residence located in the Pacific Heights and the Norwegian Consulate General downtown San Francisco. Workplace allocation may be subject to change.
