Maritime affairs cooperation

– The establishment of iNavis Maritime Innovation Center is one of the best example of maritime cooperation between Croatia and Norway, Ambassador Astrid Versto said under the delivery ceremony of Catamaran number 50 for fish farms in Norway.

On 10th of May, The Norwegian Ambassador Ms. Astrid Versto was present in Sibenik during the delivery ceremony of Catamaran number 50 for fish farms in Norway. The production of the catamaran is funded by CroNoMar.

CroNoMar
CroNoMar is as an innovation company with focus on creating new maritime business projects in the Sibenik region. From 2013 CroNoMar has operated iNavis Maritime/Marine Incubator, which is a part of iNavis Maritime Innovation Center. CroNoMar is owned by the Norwegian entrepreneur Mr. Malvin Villabø, and has over the last years created many business collaborations between Norwegian and Croatian companies. It has also created jobs and contributed to increase the trade between Norway and Croatia.

As part of its activities, CroNoMar is also providing Norwegian scientific and technical support and assistance, including access to Norwegian industry in order to increase commercial, institutional and research cooperation.

The iNavis Maritime Innovation Center
The iNavis Maritime Innovation Center in Sibenik was made operational in July 2012. The Center is both a university level research and educational institution, and a business development and technology transfer center. From the very beginning, iNavis was financial supported by the Norwegian Government.

– The establishment of iNavis Maritime Innovation Center is one of the best example of cooperation in the maritime sector between Croatia and Norway. It is so much appreciated by the Norwegian authorities that King Harald of Norway, together with the Croatian President visited the INavis project during his state visit to Croatia in 2011, Ambassador Versto highlighted.

Strong maritime traditions
Croatia and Norway are cost line countries with strong marine and maritime tradition and competence. Economic relations are important priorities for the Norwegian government in strengthening the bilateral cooperation the two countries.

– The ties between Croatia and Norway are strong and our bilateral relations are excellent. I believe that our bilateral economic relations will continue to be linked to the marine and maritime sectors also in the future, Ambassador Versto said in her speech.

Together with the Norwegian ambassador, representatives from the Croatian Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts, representatives from the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the mayor of Šibenik, Mr. Željko Burić, was also present at the ceremony.
