Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Citizens of Türkiye need to apply for a visitor's visa to enter Norway. If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, you need to apply for a residence permit to enter Norway.

Applicants who must apply for a visa to Norway and Schengen:

Citizens of: Türkiye, Armenia, Iran, Azerbaijan, and people with a non-biometric passport from Albania, Bosnia- and Hercegovina, North-Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia must apply for a visa.

Applicants who do not need a visa to Norway and Schengen:

Citizens of: Croatia, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro and Ukraine do not need a visa.

Applicants that must use another country's visa service:

When Norway has no embassy in a country, another country handles visa applications based on their rules. In Armenia and Georgia, France is representing Norway. In Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Germany is representing Norway. In Uzbekistan Italy is representing Norway. In Kazakhstan Lithuania is representing Norway. In North Macedonia Sweden is representing Norway.

Are you traveling to Denmark or Iceland?

Norway is representing Denmark in visa and residence cases in Azerbaijan and Kosovo. Norway is representing Iceland in visa cases in Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Ukraine. If you are applying for a visa to travel to one of these countries, you should follow the same process as if you were to apply for a visa to Norway.
