DNA and interviews in residence cases

As part of the case processing, UDI can request the Embassy to do DNA and/or interview in your case. UDI will then forward a request to the Embassy you applied from.

DNA request

In some countries, it is difficult to obtain identity documents like birth certificates and other documents, that are accepted by Norwegian Authorities. You can read more at UDIs website. Syria and Afghanistan are among those countries.

UDI will send a request to our Embassy in Ankara, when they assess that DNA is needed to confirm family relations in cases for applicants from Syria or Afghanistan that have applied through our Embassy.

Syrian applicants

The Embassy in Ankara will contact any applicant via the registered email address, to set up an appointment for DNA testing at our Embassy here in Ankara.  There is therefore no need to contact us. We try to schedule DNA testing regularly, but it might take some time before we contact you, depending on the workload we are experiencing.

Some Syrians needs to obtain a permit from Turkish Authorities to travel to our Embassy. The Embassy can issue a letter to confirm appointment, if needed. If you need to contact us, we kindly request you to use our Contact Form. Please include your DUF number in your message, so we easily can identify your case.

Afghan applicants

Citizens of Afghanistan should as a main rule apply from VFS Islamabad, and our Embassy in Abu Dhabi. We are, however, aware that it can be difficult for Afghan nationals to travel to Pakistan. Afghan citizens can therefore also apply from VFS Tehran, and our Embassy in Ankara.

DNA testing will be done at our Embassy in Tehran. The Embassy in Tehran will contact any applicant where UDI has sent us a DNA request, to set up an appointment for DNA testing at our Embassy in Tehran.  There is therefore no need to contact our Embassy in Tehran or in Ankara. They try to schedule DNA testing regularly, but it might take some time before they contact you, depending on the workload they are experiencing.

If you need to contact us, we kindly request you to use our Contact Form. Please include your DUF number in your message, so we easily can identify your case.

Interview requests

In cases where UDI assess there is a need for interview, they will send a request for interview to our Embassy in Ankara. To read more about who is summoned for an interview, please see UDIs website.

An interview can take from 2-6 hours, depending on the complexity of the case. Interviews are normally done via Teams, and if an interview is requested in your case, you will have to meet at VFS where you applied from.

The Embassy will contact you via your registered email address you to set up an appointment for an interview. Since we receive many interview requests and each interview can take up to full day, it might take some time before we contact you depending on the workload we are experiencing.
