Applying for a Norwegian Passport, Personal Number or Citizenship

To apply for a Norwegian passport or personal number at the Consulate General in San Francisco:

  1. Read the information on the Norwegian Embassy's website carefully.

  2. Book an appointment at the Consulate General in San Francisco through our online booking system below. Make sure to click 'Complete booking' when you have filled in your information, and that you receive a confirmation to your email (check your spam-folder if you have not received it within 10 minutes).

  3. Bring all necessary documentation and fill in all forms before your appointment.

Guidelines for your appointment at our offices on the 39th floor of 575 Market Street.

  • The appointment calendar is open for up to 6 weeks (42 days) in advance.
  • An appointment is up to 40 minutes long.
  • Two persons from one family can be processed within each appointment. If you are more than two people, please set up two consecutive appointments.
  • Make sure to bring necessary paperwork and copies to the appointment.
  • We only accept payment by credit- or debit card.
  • Early arrivers will be let up no earlier than five minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
  • Late arrivers will have to reschedule their appointments or have to wait until the end of the day.

The Front desk in the lobby of the building will verify your ID document to ensure that you are a registered visitor to the Norwegian Consulate General.

We do not receive visitors without a confirmed appointment.
