At Norway House

A Royal Visit

Her Majesty Queen Sonja visited Minnesota from October 13 to 16.

In the Twin Cities, she met with Governor Walz and had the chance to speak with Senator Klobuchar. She also traveled to Northfield, the home of St. Olaf College, where she opened its new special collections archive and spoke with students and faculty.

Her Majesty returned to Minneapolis to cut the ribbon for Norway House’s new Innovation and Cultural Center and take part in its celebratory festivities. Finally, Her Majesty attended a service at the Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church, or Mindekirken, in honor of their centennial.

We thank Her Majesty for a wonderful visit, showcasing the enduring friendship between Norway and the United States, as well as the significance of Norwegian-American immigration in Minnesota.
