Embassy Hosts Arctic Seminar

In collaboration with the Fulbright Arctic Initiative and the Fridtjof Nansen Institute, the Embassy hosted a seminar on April 26.

The seminar, titled "Cooperation in a Changing Arctic," emphasized an interdisciplinary approach to Arctic issues. As Norway is taking over the chairship of the Arctic Council on May 11, the seminar was a great forum for discussing upcoming Arctic opportunities and challenges.

The seminar included two panels. The first included Fulbright scholars’ perspectives on interdisciplinary approaches to research, practice, and policy in the Arctic region. The second panel, which included U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), discussed policy perspectives on Arctic opportunities and challenges.

Both panels demonstrated the diversity of cooperation across disciplines in the Arctic countries and the robust relationship between Norway and the U.S. Everyone wants to see a stable and peaceful Arctic region, and the key to that is cooperation!
