There, they spoke with people from several environmental agencies and the Governor’s office, as well as the State of California’s Lieutenant Governor. They focused on exchanging knowledge and ideas regarding how best to meet their climate goals. This comes in the wake of a 2021 Declaration of Intent between Norway and California, which outlines joint climate targets intended to make both places low-emission societies by 2050.
Climate Change Cooperation
Norway and California frequently work together on climate change issues. At the beginning of March, the Embassy’s climate counselor, Jon Berg, and members of the Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco and Innovation Norway met in California.
