Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Citizens of Singapore do not need a visa to visit Norway. However, it is a requirement for entry to Norway that your passport is valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area.

Applications for visitor’s visas and residence permits for Norway are handled by the Danish Embassy in Singapore. All applications are to be submitted through VFS Global in Singapore.

Please visit VFS Global for information about where and how to apply for visas and residence permits.

Applications for residence permits are forwarded to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) for processing. Information about the application process and document requirements can be found on UDI’s website.

Dual citizenship

From 1 January 2020, it is allowed to have one or more citizenships in addition to a Norwegian citizenship.

In order for individuals to have dual citizenship, the other citizenship country must also allow this.

If the other citizenship country does not allow dual citizenship, applicants risk loosing the citizenship automatically, if the application for a Norwegian citizenship is granted.

For more information please visit the UDI website.
