The Poinsettia Wishes: A Nordic Christmas Adventure exhibition at Flower Dome

The Poinsettia Wishes: A Nordic Christmas Adventure exhibition is now open at the Flower Dome in Gardens by the Bay!

The exhibition was launched on Friday 24 November, in a ceremony attended by Ambassador Homme, the other Nordic ambassadors, and Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How. The opening was also celebrated with a Norwegian Christmas concert on Sunday, at which 800 happy attendees enjoyed Norwegian Christmas music performed by the talented Big Brass band of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

Running from 24 November to 1 January, the exhibition brings visitors on a voyage through a Nordic winter wonderland. Head on down yourself to take in the fantastic Nordic-inspired decorations, including Christmas trees, viking ‘nisser’, Sami costumes, and traditional Norwegian stockfish and ‘rorbu’-houses from Lofoten!

The exhibition also features a Norwegian postbox and a postcard wall displaying heartfelt letters to Santa. These letters are written by beneficiaries from the Children's Cancer Foundation and will be delivered to the Christmas house in Drøbak, Norway.

This Christmas exhibition is the product of a long-standing, dedicated and fruitful collaboration between the Nordic Embassies, Gardens by the Bay, and Visit Norway. A team from Gardens by the Bay visited Norway last winter and was inspired by the cozy Christmas house in Drøbak and the dramatic landscapes of Lofoten. The Embassy and Visit Norway has been hard at work facilitating and assisting with the exhibition, including arranging the delivery of authentic Norwegian stockfish all the way from Lofoten!

The Flower Dome is Singapore’s ‘national garden’ and the largest glass conservatory in the world. It has won numerous prizes since opening in 2012 and received 8.8 million visitors last year. The Christmas exhibition is therefore bringing a slice of Nordic Christmas to one of the premier event spaces in the world, hopefully inspiring many Singaporeans and international tourists alike to visit and learn more about Norway and our Nordic neighbors.

Nordic Christmas Exhibition is presented by Gardens by the Bay in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore, the Embassy of Denmark in Singapore, the Embassy of Finland in Singapore, the Embassy of Sweden, Singapore, and Children’s Cancer Fund Singapore.

A big thank you to our sponsors, Telenor Asia and Seatrium, and our partners, Visit Norway (Innovation Norway), Destination Lofoten, the Norwegian Seafood Council, and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS.
