Norway joins the International Drone Coalition

During the meeting of Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels on Wednesday, Norwegian Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik signed Norway's declaration of readiness to join the Latvia-UK led international Drone Coalition in support of Ukraine.

Norway's commitment through the Nansen Programme confirms to the Ukrainian people, and the international community that Norway stands by Ukraine's existential struggle for territorial integrity, sovereignty and freedom in the long run.

Since the establishment of the Drone Coalition on 14 February 2024, its member states have already provided significant support to Ukraine through drone deliveries. The combined support of all Drone Coalition member states towards Ukraine's drone capabilities amounted to 1.8 billion dollars in 2024.

“Norway is already contributing significantly to the acquisition and development of drones, and we see it as natural for Norway to also become a member of the drone coalition that has been established," says Minister of Defense Tore O. Sandvik.

Latvia is punching above its weight supporting Ukraine. The drone coalition is but one example of the massive and substantial efforts by Latvian authorities.

Working together with close allies as Latvia, we will not rest until Ukraine has regained its freedom and full territorial integrity and sovereignty.
