EEA Civil Society Fund Stakeholder Consultation

Following the recent launch of the EEA Civil Society Fund, there will be stakeholder consultation on Latvia the 12th of March. All interested civil society organisations and other stakeholders are invited to share their ideas on the new fund. This is a unique opportunity for your civil society organisation to ensure that the civil society fund is tailored to the Latvian context.

The EEA Civil Society fund is a new fund aimed at strengthening democracy, human rights and the rule of law across Europe. The fund represents a vital lifeline to civil society organisations at a time when democratic institutions are facing unprecedented challenges. The fund promises to allocate approximately €10 million to Latvia to support civil society to an unprecedented level.

The fund will focus on areas essential for the promotion of democracy, rule of law and human rights. These include:

  • Democratic values, civic engagement, information integrity and media literacy.
  • Civil society participation in democratic processes.
  • Human rights, anti-discrimination, and social justice.
  • Gender equality, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, and LGBTIQ+ rights.
  • Climate action, environmental protection, and a just green transition.
  • Organisational development and an enabling environment for civil society.
