Notary Public services is a collective term for the tasks of a Notary Public. In Norway, Notary Public services are normally carried out by the District Court (tingretten). Abroad, Notary Public services may be performed at Norwegian foreign service missions.

Procedure for Notary Public services

The identity of persons presenting themselves to the Notary Public must be confirmed. The person must meet physically at the embassy with a valid ID document.

The most common Notary Public services include:

  • confirmation of signatures
  • confirmation of true copies of documents
  • confirmation of original documents
  • life certificate

Confirmation is provided by certificate. The certificate is issued as a stamp applied to the document itself. The certification may also be given as a separate certificate attached to the document.

Notary Public services at the embassy are provided by appointment only. Contact the embassy at consular.nairobi@mfa.no to set up an appointment.

Fees: The embassy charges a fee for Notary Public services. For an overview of the fees, see here.
