Vennligst oppgi fullt navn og fødselsdato til avdøde når du kontakter ambassaden.

Pårørende må selv ha direkte kontakt med eventuelt forsikringsselskap og det lokale og norsk begravelsesbyrå for hjemsendelse av båre/urne.   

Utenrikstjenesten dekker ingen utgifter i forbindelse med norske borgere som dør i utlandet.

Registrering av norske borgere som har avgått ved døden i Somalia:

1. Pårørende må selv innhente dødsattest fra sykehuset der avdøde gikk bort.
2. Dersom avdøde gikk bort på et annet sykehus enn Digfeer, De Matrino eller Banadir, må man i tillegg innhente dokumentasjon fra Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
3. Dokumentene over innleveres til Director General of the Ministry of Health for å få utstedt en bekreftelse.
4. Når du har samtlige dokumenter nevnt over kan du kontakte ambassaden per e-post, consular.nairobi@mfa.no, for avtale for innlevering av dokumentasjon og passet til avdøde. 
5. Når offisiell dokumentasjon mottas, utsteder ambassaden «Melding om Dødsfall», som sendes til Skattedirektoratet for registrering av dødsfallet i det norske folkeregister.

In the event of a death abroad, embassies can assist the next of kin with information on practical matters, including the repatriation of the remains and contact information to local funeral homes.

Kindly include the full name and date of birth of the deceased when contacting the embassy. 

The next of kin must have direct contact with any insurance company and the local and Norwegian funeral home for repatriation of the coffin/urn.

The Norwegian Foreign Service does not cover any expenses in relation to Norwegian citizens who die abroad.

Registration of Norwegian citizens passed away in Somalia:

1. Next of kin must obtain the death certificate from the hospital where the deceased passed away.
2. If the deceased passed away in a hospital other than Digfeer, De Matrino and Banadir Hospitals, you must additionally obtain documentation from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
3. The documents above are submitted to the Director General of the Ministry of Health in order to have a confirmation letter issued.
4. Once you have all the documents listed above contact the embassy by email; nairobi@mfa.no , to set up an appointment to submit the documents and passport of the deceased. 
5. Once official documentation has been received, the embassy will issue a “Notification of Death” which will be sent to the tax authorities in Norway. The tax authorities will register the death in the Norwegian Population Registry.
