10 years since terrorist attacks in Oslo and Utøya

This year we mark that 10 years have passed since the terrorist attacks on the government offices and Utøya.

22 July is a dark day in Norway’s history. 77 people were brutally killed, many were injured and lives were changed forever. On this 10th anniversary, we honour the memory of those who lost their lives and remind each other of the need to continue the battle against all forms of hate speech, racism and extremism.

The vicious attacks revealed the strong ties we share as a nation. We stood up for fundamental values such as democracy and freedom, openness and tolerance, fellowship and trust. These are values we must fight for every single day.

National memorial events will be held in Oslo, on Utøya island, and in many other places in Norway. For a more detailed overview of the national events, please see the programme on regjeringen.no. Information for the media is available here.
