Following the publication of the Expression of Interest for projects to be funded under the Joint Bilateral Fund (JCBF) on the Embassy's website, we invited you to submit any questions or requests for clarification through a dedicated online form.
We have compiled the questions received, together with the corresponding answers, so that all applicants and interested stakeholders may benefit from the information provided.
1. Are there possibilities to cooperate in the field of a) phytochemistry, b) effects of climate change on plant bioactive compounds and their biological activities c) phytochemical compounds in ecological monitoring?
In the text of the call, we identified a number of areas of cooperation that the Embassy considers strategically important and which will therefore be given preference.
However, we are also interested in receiving additional project ideas and are willing to consider proposals that fall outside the indicated priority areas provided that they meet the quality criteria, have relevant Norwegian partners and that sufficient financial resources remain available.
2. The call mentions that, within the field of research and academic cooperation, the Embassy has a particular interest in areas such as aquaculture, underwater research and robotics, protection of critical infrastructure, security studies and media studies. Could you please clarify whether these topics are intended to be indicative priorities only, or whether project ideas from other research fields may also be submitted, provided they contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Croatian and Norwegian institutions?
The indicated areas represent the priorities that we would particularly like to support and that will be given preference. In cases where a similar number of high quality applications are received, projects falling within the priority areas will have an advantage. Nevertheless, initiatives outside the indicated priority areas may also be considered, provided that they meet the quality criteria, have relevant Norwegian partners and that sufficient financial resources remain available.
3. Could you please confirm whether there is any limit on the number of Expressions of Interest that may be submitted by a single institution? For example, may one university or faculty submit several different project ideas, provided that each represents a separate initiative with its own objectives and partners?
There is no limit on the number of Expressions of Interest that may be submitted per applicant. The same institution, university, faculty and entity may submit multiple project proposals. Project ideas that already have identified and confirmed Norwegian partners are particularly welcome.
