It is a great honour for me to represent Norway as Ambassador to Switzerland. The relations between our two countries are excellent and are characterised by shared values, mutual respect, and a long tradition of cooperation.
Norway and Switzerland are both innovative, prosperous, and internationally oriented countries. As EFTA partners, we share many common interests in Europe and beyond. I look forward to further strengthening the cooperation between our countries, particularly in the areas of business, research, innovation, sustainability, energy, and culture. At the same time, it is important to me to promote contacts between people, institutions, and businesses in both countries.
The Embassy also serves as a point of contact for the many Norwegians living in Switzerland and provides assistance in consular matters. The Norwegian community makes a significant contribution to the close ties between our two countries, and I look forward to getting to know many of you personally.
At a time of major international challenges, cooperation among like-minded countries and a strong commitment to multilateralism are more important than ever. Both Norway and Switzerland make valuable contributions to peace, international cooperation, humanitarian causes, and the promotion of human rights. This provides a solid foundation on which we can continue to build together.
On a personal level, I look forward to becoming even more familiar with Switzerland, its impressive natural landscapes, diverse regions, and rich cultural heritage. The mountains and our close connection to nature are among the qualities that uniquely link our two countries.
I look forward to the years ahead and to many interesting meetings and exchanges throughout Switzerland.
