Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Kindly note that the Norwegian Embassy in Abu Dhabi is responsible for all matters related to visa applications and applications for residence permit to Norway from Saudi Arabia.

Limited Schengen visa capacity

JULY 2024: The visa section in Abu Dhabi has a limited capacity during the high season, and there are limitations as to how many visa applications can be accepted and handled daily. Please note that the waiting time for visa applications from KSA is currently around 30 days and can be up to 45 days.

Your application is pending as long as your passport is with the Embassy and has not been returned to VFS. The Embassy cannot give individual status updates or further details about the status of an application.
