Among others The Foreign Service is responsible for providing help, advice and protection to Norwegian nationals vis-à-vis foreign authorities, as well as assisting Norwegian citizens abroad in connection with criminal proceedings, accidents, illness and death.
Following its accreditation to represent Norway in Albania in addition to Croatia, the Norwegian Embassy in Croatia is seeking a local administrative officer with knowledge of Albanian language. All eligible applicants are invited to consider this opportunity and apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The tasks and portfolio of the local administrative officer will mainly be linked to administrative and consular affairs, more specifically:
- Offer consular assistance to Norwegian citizens in Albania, including processing various applications related to Norwegian social security number, paternity issues and passports, report on deaths and accidents, accompany diplomats on prison and hospital visits, prepare and assist notarial acts, maintain and update the Embassy’s travel advice, and be the main contact point for relevant Norwegian and Albanian institutions.
- Follow up on new and relevant regulations and guidelines in Consular and Immigration Affairs
- Assist and follow up the honorary consuls.
- Handle inquiries from the public.
- Prepare and organize events, conferences, visits to/from Norway, projects, etc.
- Create and publish content on the Embassy’s webpage.
- Follow and report on the relevant news from Albania and Kosovo.
- In absence of the responsible officer, offer consular assistance in cases regarding Croatia.
The position can be assigned other tasks according to the embassy’s needs and the applicant’s qualifications.
Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- Relevant higher education (e.g. university degree). Long and relevant experience may compensate for higher education.
- Fluency in English and Albanian, written and oral.
- Extensive experience in administrative work in a similar environment.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office programs, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, communication tools.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Norwegian and/or Croatian is an advantage.
- Experience from working at an embassy, international organization or public administration.
- Previous experience in a related field (consular, legal, and administrative affairs).
- Documented proficiency in translations.
- Good knowledge of social and cultural situation in Albania and Kosovo.
Personal qualifications and qualities:
- Service minded individuals with ability to work structured, independently, and efficiently as team players in a fast-paced environment.
- Organized, efficient, precise in implementing tasks, meticulous attention to detail.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, written and oral.
Work conditions:
- Working hours: Monday-Friday 08:30-16:15 (summertime, 08:30-15:30).
- Overtime and some travel may be required.
- Workplace: Norwegian Embassy, Grand Centar, Hektorovićeva 2, 10000 Zagreb.
- Salary is determined based on experience and qualifications.
