Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Citizens of China must apply for a visitor’s visa.

Regional handling of applications:

The Embassy in Beijing together with the Consulate General in Shanghai is responsible for visas and residence permits for applicants in Mongolia, South Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan and China.

Visa applications:

Applicants, with a passport from Mongolia, Democratic People's Republic of Korea or China must apply for a visa. Applicants, with a passport from South Korea or Japan do not need a visitors visa.

Applicants that must use another country's visa service:

When Norway has no embassy in a country or region, another country handles visa applications based on their rules. Finland represents Norway for Schengen visa applications in Hong Kong and Sweden represents Norway in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Applicants in Macao can use the application centers in Hong Kong.
