Norwegian Seafood Day in Viet Nam

The Norwegian Seafood Council organized the first-ever Norwegian Seafood Day in Viet Nam on 3 June 2023. Ambassador Hilde Solbakken joined Vietnamese chef in preparing irresistible dishes for visitors.

The event aimed to introduce Vietnamese consumers to seafood from Norway. The event spotlighted the presence of H.E. Hilde Solbakken, Norwegian Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr. Asbjorn Warvik Rortveit, Southeast Asia Regional Director, Norwegian Seafood Council and other VIP guests.

Ambassador Hilde Solbakken joined Vietnamese chef in preparing irresistible dishes for visitors and journalists, following the very best of Norwegian traditions.

To open the Norwegian Seafood Day, Ambassador Solbakken, said “This event will bring a taste of Norway to seafood lovers in Hanoi and Vietnam at large.”

“The clean and cold waters along the coast give Norwegian seafood its distinctive taste and texture. The emphasis on sustainable management of marine resources and the care taken from sea to table has earned Norwegian seafood its reputation as some of the best in the world. I am convinced that the discerning seafood consumers in Vietnam will appreciate the high quality of Norwegian salmon and brown crab and that they will want to come back for more”, she continued.

Sharing at the event Mr. Asbjorn Warvik Rortveit - Southeast Asia Regional Director, Norwegian Seafood Council indicated that: “Our celebration today goes beyond just savoring the delicious taste of Norwegian seafood. It is about fostering partnerships and strengthening the bonds between Norway and Viet Nam. We see great potential for collaborations in the seafood sector, where both countries can learn from each other, share expertise, and create new opportunities.”

“Norway and Viet Nam are united by a shared appreciation for seafood, and this common ground presents exciting prospects for cultural exchange. We can fuse the best of our culinary traditions, techniques, and flavors through culinary collaborations. Let us explore the creative possibilities of combining the freshness and simplicity of Norwegian seafood with vibrant and aromatic Vietnamese cuisines. Such collaborations can truly redefine the culinary landscape, offering unique and delightful experiences to food enthusiasts in both countries.” said Asbjorn.

The Norwegian Seafood Day is also focusing on widely introducing the globally promoted "Seafood from Norway" trademark, and ensuring customers in Vietnam have access to seafood sourced from Norway and other associated values, developed by the Norwegian Seafood Council.

In order to be sure of the origin and quality of seafood products, customers can find on the product packaging the label "Seafood from Norway", which is the guarantee of the Norwegian Seafood Council with the origin and quality of the product are strictly controlled, ensuring the harmony of the sustainable of nature as well as providing customers with special and valuable culinary experiences.

Besides the live-cooking show from the Norwegian Ambassador and the chef, the event provided numerous activities and attractions. From salmon and brown crabs from Norway displayed to the seafood-tasting activities at the designated booths, and lucky gifts to give to customers. The event created a festive atmosphere and Norwegian breeze to everyone who attended.
