Saga Farmann Reception and Team Norway Launch

The Norwegian Embassy in Ankara and the Oseberg Viking Heritage Foundation hosted a reception this week to mark the departure of the Viking ship Saga Farmann from Istanbul.

Saga Farmann is a reconstructed replica of a Norwegian merchant ship from the Viking Age, discovered near Larvik in 1893. Last summer, she embarked on a journey from Norway to Istanbul, retracing the path the Vikings took over a thousand years ago, to the city which was then called Miklagard. On Tuesday, friends and partners gathered in Istanbul to celebrate our shared history and bid farewell to the ship as she continues her voyage in the Mediterranean.

Earlier the same day, the Norwegian Embassy launched the Team Norway platform, a network-based collaboration aimed at promoting Norwegian business interests in Türkiye. The Norwegian companies Jotun Boya Turkey, Skipsteknisk, Wilhelmsen Ships Service, Lerøy Turkey, OctoAqua, and TOMRA Collection Turkey participated in the event. These six companies also served as sponsors for the launch and the subsequent Saga Farmann reception.
