Beit Norvegia in Jerusalem and the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Haifa and Ashdod, are run by the Karmel Institute. They offer affordable accommodation and organise social gatherings.
Beit Scandinavia in Haifa was founded in 1980 by Lilly and Thorvald Tånsberg. The idea was to create a ‘home away from home’ for Scandinavian youth working as volunteers at kibbutzim in Israel.
The Norwegian Church Ministry to Israel (Den Norske Israelsmisjon) runs the Beit Eliahu congregation and the Ebenezer Senior Citizen’s Home in Haifa. Caspari Center for Biblical and Jewish Studies in Jerusalem and the Immanuel Church and congregation house in Tel Aviv are also run by the Norwegian Church Ministry to Israel
The Norwegian Pentecostal Movement is engaged in various social work in Israel, notably in bringing Norwegian volunteers to ‘Eitanim Mental Hospital’ in Jerusalem. They assist especially in building, renovation and maintenance work of the hospital.
