Regional handling of visitor’s visa and residence permits

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Citizens of Indonesia are required to have a visa to go to Norway. Indonesian diplomatic and service passports holders do not need a visa to visit Norway. This applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway.

Some Norwegian embassies are responsible for several countries. One embassy may process visa applications from more than one country. Your country is one of them.

In some cases, Norway is represented by another country for visa applications. This means you might need to apply through an embassy from another country.

To get the correct information or start your visa application, please contact the regional embassy or the embassy of another country that handles visas for Norway in your country. You can find the contact information and a link to their website below.

Citizens of Vietnam and Lao PDR must apply for a visitor’s visa. Holders of diplomatic passports from Laos do not need a visa to visit Norway.
