Ambassador Iversen Presents Credentials to the President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

Norwegian Ambassador Stein Iversen presented his credentials to the President of Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, Secretary General H.E. Mr. Tô Lâm officially taking up his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to Viet Nam.

The special ceremony was held on 3 October 2026 at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. Ambassador Iversen was accompanied by Marianne Rabe Knævelsrud, First Secretary at the Embassy.

In his remarks, Ambassador Iversen said he was honoured to take on the role and looked forward to working closely with the Government of Viet Nam, Vietnamese authorities, partners and friends of Norway to further strengthen Norway–Viet Nam cooperation.

2026 marks 55 years of diplomatic relations between Norway and Viet Nam. Over the past five and a half decades, cooperation between the two countries has grown and evolved, built on mutual trust and respect.

The recently established Norway–Viet Nam Green Strategic Partnership and the conclusion of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between EFTA and Viet Nam provide new momentum for further strengthening cooperation in areas of shared interest, including sustainable development, the green transition, ocean management and the circular economy. Business-to-business cooperation will be an important part of this next phase of the partnership.
