Duties and responsibilities
The visa officer will be working with both visa, residence cases and consular cases. The visa officer will be expected to carry out the following tasks, amongst others:
- Register applications
- Perform control of documents (ID control)
- Print visa stickers
- Organise and file cases
- Handle incoming correspondence, e-mail queries and phone calls
- Conduct interviews with applicants
- Carry out DNA tests of applicants
- Receive applications in the reception during opening hours
- Register and prepare applications for Norwegian passports
- Other tasks may be added
Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
- Fluency (written and oral) in English
- Proficiency in computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
- Relevant higher education (e.g. university degree). Long and relevant experience may compensate for higher education
- The following qualifications will be an advantage:
- Proficiency in Russian
- Experience from work with visa/immigration

Terms and conditions
- If not at UK citizen, the successful candidate must be a holder of a valid UK residency
- Permanent position
- Probation period 6 months
- Salary from GBP 42 000
- Working days: Monday-Friday 09:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Workplace: Norwegian Embassy
- Holidays: 28 days annual vacation
