The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ankara represents Norway in Türkiye and is responsible for a broad range of fields. The Embassy is also accredited to Azerbaijan. In addition to staff posted to Türkiye from Norway, the Embassy has 22 locally employed staff. The visa section is responsible for processing applications for visas as well as residence permits to Norway from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran. In addition, the Embassy receives applications for residence permits from Afghanistan, Kosovo, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Croatia, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, North-Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. From July, we will also be responsible for visa and residence cases from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.
The vacancy is a 2-year temporary position, with the possibility of extension.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Multilingual customer service
- Receiving, registering and preparing applications for visa and residence permits
- Performing first line ID- and other document control
- Interviewing and DNA-testing of applicants.
- Responding to questions regarding visa and residence cases, as well as migration related cases.
- Interpretations and translations, including translation of information for our web pages.
Qualifications:
- The following qualifications are required:
- Fluency (written and oral) in English and Kurdish (Sorani and/or Badini dialects)
- Higher education (e.g. university degree) in a relevant field. Long and relevant experience may substitute for higher education.
- Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Office.
- The following qualifications will be an advantage:
- Experience from a Visa Section, experience from an Embassy, Immigration work, or public administration work.
- Good knowledge of legal framework and social and cultural situation in Iraq/Jordan/Lebanon/Palestine
- Good knowledge of legal framework and social and cultural situation in the other countries from which we process applications.
- Fluency in Turkish
- Fluency in Arabic, Farsi, or other languages from the countries listed above.

We want someone with solid communication and interpersonal skills and who demonstrates cultural awareness and sensitivity, integrity and a professional approach to their work.
All candidates must have legal residency and be eligible for a work permit in Türkiye.
Salary will be set on the basis of qualifications and experience. Currency of salary payments are TRY, and a 15 % deduction to SGK will apply. Depending on nationality and residency status, income tax will be applicable to Turkey or Norway.
