All visa applicants from Malawi, as well as those who intend to submit their visa applications at VFS centres in South Africa, are required to submit their original passports along with their visa applications.
The Embassy must retain the passport to conduct mandatory document verification before processing the application.
Visa applications submitted without a passport will be rejected.
Applicants—particularly those planning to travel to South Africa—are advised to allow for a minimum stay of two working days. This period is necessary for the Embassy to complete the required document checks and return the passport, especially if the applicant needs to depart South Africa before a decision on the visa application has been finalized.
