Royal Norwegian Embassy Manila is looking to fill a position as Consular Officer.

The Consular Officer will be a part of our Consular Team.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Processing a range of consular services, including passport applications, emergency travel documents, certification, and authentication of documents, etc.
  • Communicating with Norwegian citizens, and agents by email, phone and in person and ensuring the provision of accurate and timely information on consular services.
  • Support to emergency consular services, including out-of-office hours as required.
  • Management of consular filing systems

 

Consular assistance:

  • Provide direct consular assistance to Norwegian citizens, by email, phone and in person.
  • Provide critical support to diplomatic consular officers for complex consular cases, including negotiation with authorities and liaison with key actors.
  • Assist with emergency consular cases, death cases, including beyond working hours.
  • Liaise, negotiate, and build relationships with immigration, police, hospitals, and other relevant parties.
  • Liaise, negotiate, and build relationships with other relevant Government authorities.
  • Liaise, negotiate, and build relationship with relevant counterparts in Norway to ensure the smooth functioning of public services offered by the Embassy.
  • Maintain a list of key contacts, to ensure the provision of essential consular support.
  • Maintain accurate records of consular assistance using the system provided.

The Head of Mission may change the candidate’s duties and responsibilities when needed.

 

 Qualifications and competencies:

Desired skills

  • University education, bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience.
  • At least five years’ working experience as a Consular Officer, preferably from an international working environment.
  • Fluency in English is necessary, and a working knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage, but not a requirement.

What the Embassy can offer

The Embassy can offer a competitive salary, supportive working environment, where staff members work in a cooperative spirit across program areas and sectors, with well-regulated work conditions. Working hours, Monday to Friday 08:00 - 15:30, but with some flexibility. The Embassy has 26 staff members and is in Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila, with modern and functional office premises.
