You need to apply for a Norwegian identity number at the same time as you are applying for the Norwegian passport. To get a national identity number, it is important to bring the correct documentation when going to the Embassy. Please follow the instructions on the website of the National Population Register before you request an appointment at the Embassy. If the child is born in Iran, please choose "other country". Once you have followed the instructions, the website will give you information on what to do and which documentation you need to bring to the Embassy. Read the information carefully.
After following the instructions above, send an e-mail to consular.tehran@mfa.no with the following information to get an appointment at the Embassy:
- Name and birth of date for the child/person applying for Norwegian national identity number and passport.
- Name and nationality of both parents
- Date of birth and full name as written in the Norwegian passport for the parent(s) with Norwegian citizenship.
