The Holberg Prize recognizes path-breaking scientific work in the humanities, social sciences, law and theology. In addition, the Prize shall contribute to raising the status of these fields and to stimulate interest in research among young people. The Prize is administered by a board appointed by the University of Bergen, on behalf of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. The Holberg Prize is worth NOK 6 million. The Nils Klim Prize is awarded annually to a scholar under 40 years of age, from or in a Nordic country, for outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law or theology.
