The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in an informal WTO ministerial gathering at Davos, Switzerland Friday 26 January. The gathering which is hosted by Switzerland, is an important arena for political discussions about the work in the WTO and discussions about further development of WTO-agreements.

The World Trade Organization – WTO – is crucial in shaping globalization through international cooperation. International trade is one of the prerequisites for reaching the UN`s Sustainable Development Goals, says  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ine Eriksen Søreide.

Norwegian businesses are dependent upon open markets and predictable rules for international trade. All WTO members must work together to build trust and understanding and to make progress in the WTO-negotiations, says the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
