on the on the human rights situation in Spania

President,
Norway welcomes the Spanish delegegation, commends Spain on its election to this council and on its longstanding commitment to human rights. We welcome the many positive steps taken since its last review. However, we believe further progress can be made in certain areas.
Norway recommends that Spain:
1. Strengthen efforts to prevent gender-based violence and ensure that victims have access to immediate protection.
2. Ensure sufficient protection and registration of irregular migrants.
3. Strengthen measures to prevent and combat child poverty and exclusion.
4. Amend the Organic Law of 30 March 2015 on the Protection of Citizen Security to ensure that it aligns with European and international human rights standards.
5. Ensure that new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, are not used to discriminate or to restrict freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, or the right to privacy.
