The Ambassador's Welcome
I am very pleased to be representing Norway in Jordan. We view Jordan as a valuable partner for matters of mutual interest between our two kingdoms and are delighted to observe that cooperation has been expanding over recent years.
Both King Abdullah II and Queen Rania have recently visited Norway. A number of Norwegian high-level politicians, as well as Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, have likewise had the pleasure of experiencing the renowned Jordanian hospitality.
Jordan stands out as a country with a keen interest in peace, stability and dialogue. The Norwegian Embassy was, in fact, opened in 1994 as a result of Jordan’s vital role in the Middle East Peace Process - which is also a central pillar in Norwegian foreign policy. The peace agreement between Jordan and Israel in 1994 was an important achievement and a crucial step forward in the efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.
Today, we also commend Jordan’s efforts for providing protection to hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees despite the challenges such an unprecedented crisis brings with it. Jordan’s stability and promotion of dialogue has made it a regional headquarter for many humanitarian actors attempting to bring relief to Syrian refugees.
On this website, you can find more information about Norway and our relations with Jordan and Iraq. You can also read about the Embassy and what we do. I hope that you will find it useful.
