The disarmament team at the Permanent Mission of Norway in Geneva works to support Norway’s active contribution to processes of international disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destructions in all relevant multilateral forums. Particular emphasis is put on humanitarian disarmament where the humanitarian and developmental consequences of the use of weapons are at the forefront. The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) and the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (MBC) are important instruments in this regard. Norway played an active role in the development of both conventions, and the work with these conventions is a high priority at the Mission. In addition, the Mission follows other disarmament processes and forums in Geneva.
