Innovation, Technology & Digital Global Goods

Benefits of digital innovation are crucial to building a more sustainable world and reaching the Global Sustainable Development Goals. Norway therefore spearheads sharing innovation and technology in developing economies.

Norway is a convening member of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation which released its report “Digital Interdependence” in 2019. Recently, Norway launched a Whitepaper on digital transformation and Norwegian development policies.

Norway is spearheading a new international initiative Digital Public Goods. The aim of this alliance is to accelerate attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals in low- and middle-income countries by investing and sharing openly licensed technologies, data models and content. Norway is leading the way by funding and sharing (for free) weather forecast- solutions (yr.no), health information systems (hisp.no) digital global library, language learning applications, agriculture support and many other technical solutions with developing countries.
