President,
Norway welcomes Libya’s participation in the UPR process but notes with regret that despite the many recommendations from the Fact-Finding Mission on Libya, the human rights situation has continued to deteriorate.
Norway recommends that Libya:
- Strengthen the rule of law, independent courts and prosecution authorities, and end the widespread impunity.
- Ensure that women’s rights to participate in political processes, public life and the economic development of Libya is fully ensured.
- Ensure the protection of the human rights of vulnerable groups in the context of migration, including immediately ceasing the practice of arbitrary detention.
Thank you.
