President,
Norway commends Yemen’s adherence to the principles of the truce and welcomes steps taken to end the practice of recruiting children to armed groups in areas controlled by the government.
Norway recommends that Yemen:
- Adopts an inclusive approach to the peace process, including women, youth, marginalized groups, and victims of war.
- Ends the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, and swiftly and fully implements the recommendations of the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict.
- Ensures an enabling environment for freedom of expression, association, and peaceful assembly and puts an end to prosecution and harassment of journalists and human rights defenders.
- Ensures that those arbitrarily detained are released, end the practice of arbitrary arrest and detention, and ratifies the International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
Thank you
