President,

Norway welcomes Slovakia’s participation in the UPR process and its commitment to human rights, but we have concerns about the human rights situation for the Roma population, women’s rights, and the rights of LGBT+ persons.

Norway recommends that Slovakia:

  1. Ratifies the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women.

  2. Ensures adequate measures and resources to protect the Roma population against discrimination, in particular incorporating measures to prevent segregation of Roma children in education.

  3. Take the necessary steps to develop and implement a national action plan for the equality and protection of the human rights of LGBT+ persons in Slovakia.

Thank you.
