Norway congratulates Latvia on the adoption of its UPR report.
During the review in January, Norway presented four recommendations for Latvia’s consideration, regarding citizenship, prison conditions, Roma Children and hate speech against LGBT.
We were pleased that three recommendations were accepted immediately after the review, one of which was considered already implemented. The fourth was left for further consideration. We thank Latvia for providing further information towards this recommendation about LGBT, and to a similar recommendation from Argentina, in the addendum. We take note that this recommendation was “partially accepted.” We look forward to further cooperation regarding the UPR, and in the Human Rights Council more broadly.
We wish Latvia good luck in the implementation phase towards their next UPR review.
