We thank the Commission of Inquiry for the oral update regarding the human rights situation in Eritrea.
As a long-standing friend of Eritrea and the people of Eritrea, we continue to be gravely concerned about the situation of human rights in the country, as highlighted in the reports by the Special Rapporteur and update on the work of the Commission.
We believe that Eritrea can benefit greatly from cooperation with the United Nations in general, and with the Human Rights Council in particular, and we reiterate our call on the Government of Eritrea to cooperate with the Special Rapporteur and the Commission of Inquiry.
We would like to ask the Commission a question: What is the status with regard to the duration of the military service in the country?
