As delivered by Magnus Løvold.
Mr. President,
We reiterate our strong support for the mandate of the SRSG for Violence against Children, and we stand ready, Ms. Santos Pais, to continue supporting your efforts in Geneva and elsewhere in order to advance the VAC agenda.
We also welcome your report submitted to the Human Rights Council this year, with a focus on early childhood development. The success of the 2030 Agenda will indeed be measured by the actions taken, and the tangible, positive difference made in the lives of children, especially for those furthest behind who are often the most at risk of violence.
We share your concern about the need for early childhood development initiatives and positive parenting to enhance violence prevention and break the cycle of violence in children’s lives. Good quality services in early childhood help to improve the life chances of the most vulnerable children.
Ms. Santos Pais,
In this context, can you explain howearly childhood development initiatives can enhance violence prevention and break the cycle of violence and give some examples of good quality services in early childhood to help improve the life chances of the most vulnerable children ?
I thank you.
