Item 13.2: Maternal infant and youg children nutrition

Development of the core set of indicators

Norway supports and appreciates the technical progress in the development of indicators for this important monitoring framework on maternal, infant and young child nutrition. In particular, we recognize the importance of the work that has been done to alleviate countries’ data collection burden by more closely aligning the proposed core nutrition indicators with the Global Reference List of 100 Core Health Indicators. In the further work with the nutrition indicators, it would be valuable to have more information about the coordination of these two processes, and possible implications for the core nutrition indicators that will not be included in the 100 core health indicators. On a more prospective and general note, we suggest that priority is given to the development of indicators that can be reported or estimated through routine health information systems, and not only by surveys.
