First official visit to Geneva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Ms Anniken Huitfeldt, came on her first official visit to Geneva on 7 October 2022 to meet with several leaders in the UN, WTO, other international organisations and civil society.

Minister Huitfeldt met Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO),
Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, and Secretary General of UNCTAD, Rebeca Grynspan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with recently appointed leader of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo, and the new president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

Geneva is an important hub for multilateral issues, from trade and global health matters to human rights and humanitarian work. Current global challenges, Norway's engagement in humanitarian response, the situation for girls and women, refugees and internally displaced persons, rule-based and inclusive trade, strengthening health systems and pandemic preparedness, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), as well as work life issues, were all issues on the agenda during the Minister’s visit.
