About the Embassy

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Accra, Ghana handles the diplomatic relations between Norway and The Gambia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Senegal and Sierra Leone. Norway is represented by honorary consulates in Abidjan, Monrovia, Freetown, Conakry and Banjul.

During 2024 it will be established an Embassy in Dakar which will be accredited to Mauretania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad. There are honorary consulates in Nouakchott, Ouagadougou and N’Djamena. The Embassy in Accra is handling all consular matters regarding applications for Norwegian passport and personal number in all the above-mentioned countries and will continue to do so also after the Embassy in Dakar has been established.

The Embassy in Accra is the regional immigration hub for West Africa and is responsible for applications for Schengen visas and residence permits in Norway from applicants residing in the following countries:

Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. The Embassy also represents Iceland in Nigeria.
