You need a Norwegian national identity number to get a passport. If you're staying abroad and apply for a Norwegian passport at a Norwegian Foreign Service Mission, you need a Norwegian national identity number. Application procedure
In order to verify whether you qualify to apply for a Norwegian passport, you will be asked to provide a copy of your current Norwegian passport and your residence permit or entry visa for the country you are resident in.
In order to apply for a Norwegian passport you need to have a Norwegian ID number HERE. If you do not have a personal number, you must apply for this before lodging a passport application.
