The Embassies of Troika (Norway, United Kingdom, United States) strongly condemn yesterday’s attempts to disrupt through violence the Sudanese Bar Association workshop on a framework for transitional constitutional arrangements.
This workshop is an inclusive, Sudanese-led initiative, which brings together a wide range of groups in order to stimulate progress towards an agreed framework for resolving the political crisis. Those seeking to disrupt and intimidate the event are not interested in dialogue and consensus-building. Their aim is to prevent progress towards a democratic future for Sudan. They must not be allowed to succeed.
We support genuinely inclusive dialogue between different Sudanese parties and groups, with a view to producing a political agreement, which establishes a credible, civilian-led transitional government with broad-based support, and a clear roadmap to elections. We urge all parties to participate in and contribute to such efforts in a spirit of good faith, flexibility and compromise.
تدين سفارات دول الترويكا (النرويج والمملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة) بشدة محاولات الأمس لتعطيل، عن طريق العنف، ورشة عمل نقابة المحامين السودانيين حول الإطار الدستوري الانتقالي.
هذه الورشة مبادرة شاملة يقودها السودانيون، وتجمع بين مجموعة واسعة من الأطراف من أجل تحفيز التقدم نحو إطار متفق عليه لحل الأزمة السياسية. أولئك الذين يسعون إلى تعطيل الحدث وتخويف القائمين عليه ليسوا مهتمين بالحوار وبناء توافق الآراء. هدفهم هو منع التقدم نحو مستقبل ديمقراطي للسودان. يجب ألا يُسمح لهم بالنجاح.
نحن ندعم إجراء حوار حقيقي وشامل بين مختلف الأحزاب والمجموعات السودانية، بهدف التوصل إلى اتفاق سياسي يؤسس لحكومة انتقالية ذات مصداقية بقيادة مدنية تحظى بدعم واسع النطاق، بالإضافة الى خارطة طريق واضحة للانتخابات. ونحث جميع الأطراف على المشاركة والمساهمة في هذه الجهود بروح من حسن النية والمرونة والتوافق.
