The Troika (Embassies of Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States) are deeply concerned by the continued deaths of peaceful protestors, including an individual who was killed with live ammunition yesterday in Khartoum and was the 125th protestor death since October 2021. We extend our sympathies to all of the victims and their families, and we strongly condemn the use of excessive force against peaceful protesters. There must be no impunity for the perpetrators.
We appreciate the quick action by the Interior Ministry to condemn the killing of the protester and confirm that legal measures are being taken against the officer responsible.
We remain focused on supporting restoration of a civilian-led transitional government to fulfill the Sudanese people’s call for a free, peaceful, and just future for Sudan.
تعرب دول اعضاء الترويكا (سفارات النرويج والمملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة) عن قلقها العميق إزاء استمرار قتل المتظاهرين السلميين، بمن فيهم شخص قُتل بالرصاص الحي أمس في الخرطوم وهي الوفاة رقم 125 منذ أكتوبر 2021. ونود ان نعبر عن تعاطفنا مع جميع الضحايا ونمد التعازي لعائلاتهم، كما إننا ندين بشدة استخدام القوة المفرطة ضد المتظاهرين السلميين. يجب ألا يفلت الجناة من العقاب.
نقدر الإجراء السريع الذي اتخذته وزارة الداخلية لإدانة مقتل المتظاهر وتأكيد اتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية ضد الضابط المسؤول.
ونظل نركز اهتمامنا في دعم استعادة حكومة انتقالية بقيادة مدنية لتلبية دعوة الشعب السوداني من أجل مستقبل حر، سلمي وعادل للسودان.
